NAAVC’s mission is simple yet radical:

to ensure that visionary churches can fearlessly engage in their religious practice to everyone’s benefit.  What a concept!  Our churches help both war veterans and refugees, recovering addicts, and people from all walks of life returning to their spiritual center from PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief, demoralization, broken relationships, betrayal, abuse, and suffering.

Regardless of where people start, we see people regain their personal power and connection with the Spirit.  The fulcrum is our federal lawsuit against the DEA: Arizona Yagé Assembly (AYA) & NAAVC v. Garland et al. (CV‑20‑02373‑PHX‑ROS).

NAAVC supports churches like AYA, which has already participated in now published research with Melbourne University and Arizona State University, as well as an ongoing and yet to be published research with Imperial College of London, plus a new study now being formulated with the University of Arizona.  This research is validating the positive efficacy of churches within the NAAVC membership.  Help us continue our work and protect our 1st Amendment rights.

Without our Federal Court Case in action, this research and this ongoing work with our communities is directly threatened. But we won’t back down. In November 2024, NAAVC in tandem with AYA escalated its fight to the U.S. Supreme Court,

challenging the DEA’s demand for AYA's confidential membership lists—a direct assault on associational privacy and sacred practice.  The case is now back in Federal District Court in Phoenix.  There are challenges ahead.  Help us meet everyone of them with full resources.

Bringing our case through to trial next year will take an estimated $250,000.  Like all the work we do, remember, help can’t wait.  Your support is honored.

Because when we win this case, every visionary church, every advocate for free expression of religion, everyone who has benefitted or will benefit from access to these sacraments—wins with us…and you’ll know that you had a part to play in that victory!

Time is of the Essence...

Arizona Yagé Assembly & NAAVC v. Garland et al. is now fighting in the Federal District and Appellate Courts.  Our next federal filing deadline is only weeks away. The briefs we submit will decide the ways in which visionary churches can continue their sacraments and how thousands of people will legally continue to access their path to healing.

Why this case matters to all communities . . .

  • Freedom of Religion—Without Compromise
The DEA’s blanket Schedule I ban on DMT (one component of ayahuasca) uniformly criminalizes its sacramental use. Yet, as NAAVC v. Garland et al. argues, bureaucracy has no place in dictating the nature of our communion with the Divine.

  • Evidence‑Based Healing for Heroes - Every day some to 17 to 22 veterans die by suicide. Our ceremonies and allied nonprofits already serve combat vets, offering ayahuasca‑assisted healing where conventional approaches fail.  This means allowing veterans to seek this spiritual-based healing here at home, without having to travel overseas to sit in ceremony.  And this spiritual-based approach shows evidence-based results.  Let’s bring it home!

  • Accelerating Psychedelic Science
Even the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is now funding MDMA‑ and psilocybin‑assisted therapy trials for PTSD and depression, acknowledging the promise these medicines hold. DAV

Your Donation is the Catalyst for Our Victory

...and our victory is your victory too.  Every contribution you make today is deployed to fuel the litigation to protect sacred practice. Your donation to NAAVC will go toward funding our first-rate 3-man legal team in addition to arming it with state-of -the -art research and discovery tools including a suite of Lexis-Nexis professional research tools and services, Legal AI tools, and Disco discovery tools.  But this also includes the need for funding international subject experts to author studied opinions on our behalf.

We’re also heading toward bring the DEA into depositions. This can also be an expensive process including cross country flights for our legal team stationed in New Mexico and Florida.

Most assuredly, the DEA does not want its key staff brought into deposition.  But that is where we are headed.  And when we do, we’ll have all sorts of inconvenient questions for the DEA staff.  There are question they simple do not want to answer, and until now they’ve been able to avoid this reconning.  Help us bring real power into our depositions with the DEA and CPB. The opposition has seen our team make extraordinary strides in this case.  Now that we’re greenlighted for trial, let’s see it all they way through to trial in the best of style.

This unprecedented case serves to protect visionary churches and their attendees from unconstitutional attacks, seizures, and forced disclosures.  But it also serves as a needed pushback against an agency that has lost its way, and become disconnected from the health of the nation.
